Principal / Curriculum Leader Functions
Principals or Curriculum Leaders will be able to do the following:
· Establish local ‘School Curriculum Centres’ for coordination of learning programs across the school.
· Facilitate sharing across the school. Establish collaborative planning groups.
· Meet accountability requirements.
· Manage the assessment – recording – reporting process more efficiently
· Undertake NAPLAN analysis and action plans. Improve student outcomes and school performance.
Establish a School Curriculum Centre
Principals can immediately utilise the following functions of the ‘School Curriculum Centre’.
School Planning Document Display
· The entire set of school curriculum planning documents can be publicly available to all teachers.
· Organisation of all documents into colour coded, easily accessible folders.
· Coordination through shared understanding, and efficient dissemination. Immediate access to updates.
· Existing school policy documents and plans are imported into school created folders. All in one location.
Coordinated Sharing across the school.
Principals can promote sharing by encouraging teachers to:
· place documents for the ‘public folder’ to be accessible by all colleagues
· establish specific groups that can collaborate.
· quality control can be maintained, through a ‘holding bay’ function.
Accountability Processes
Establish an easy process of meeting accountability requirements.
· Provide a simple ‘drag and drop’ function that will save teacher time and promote cooperation.
· School records can then be easily maintained and archived.
Assessment processes
· Again teachers can easily ‘drag and drop’ the agreed assessment records for each term.
· Records may be entered for school reports – as a clerical task. This process is to be automated in 2009.
Continuity, Cumulative development, Customisation and Value Adding
· Planning can be a cumulative process. All teachers over time can be shared with all other teachers.
· Continuity of planning documents is assured and so they can be improved each year.
· The ‘School Curriculum Centre’ can be customised over the years to suit the local school / community context.
Security, saving, back-ups, Archiving
· Documents are saved on the Curriculum Organiser server, and automatic back-up function is provided.
· All personal documents are saved on the web-server, and can be saved on PCs and school shared drive.
· The ‘School Curriculum Centre’ can be archived each term. The permanent record is the foundation for continuous improvement
NAPLAN Analysis and Action
NAPLAN results can be transferred to a ‘School NAPLAN folder’.
· Automated analysis enables the school to order the areas of worst to best performance
· Hyperlinks are provided to planning processes to enable schools to immediately address the areas of concern.
