Components
There are five components of the ‘School Curriculum Organiser’:
· ‘School Curriculum Centre – Public Folders’: contain all planning documents accessible by all teachers.
· School shared folder: A ‘Holding Bay’, within which teachers can place documents for sharing.
It is a ‘quality control folder’ so that curriculum leaders can edit, and then place in the appropriate location.
· Collaborative group sharing folders: Specific groups can be created. Members may share documents. e.g. Literacy, or Year 3 teachers.
· Accountability folder: Teachers place ‘School Record documents’ used for school accountability e.g. overview of planned units of work. The process is a very simple ‘right click and check’.
· Assessment folder: Teachers ‘drag and drop’ the agreed assessment records for each term. Records may be entered for school reports – as a clerical task.
Features
The School Curriculum Organiser enables to principal to coordinate the school learning program, meet accountability requirements and plan for continuous improvement, using evidence based data e.g. NAPLAN.
· Existing school plans: All current school plans can be imported into the special school folders (Red Nodes) within chosen folders created by the school.
· Policy dissemination: School policy documents are accessible to all teachers and disseminated efficiently.
· Organisation: Established organisational structure provides for efficient storage and fast access
· Collection and storage: All planning documents are stored and accessible in one location.
· Immediate updates: New documents e.g. National Curriculum are immediately available to all.
· Connections: Facilitate links to resources: First Steps, Primary connections, Learning Federation Objects
· Shared understanding: All teachers are viewing the same ‘School Curriculum Centre’.
· Quality control: Documents submitted by teachers are placed in the ‘Holding Bay’ and are edited by a curriculum leader prior to including in the CDS. This ensures quality control.
· Cumulative development: Planning is a cumulative process as documents produced by all teachers over time can be shared with all other teachers. ‘Do not re-invent the wheel’.
· Value adding: Planning documents can be improved each year.
· Archiving: The ‘School Curriculum Centre’ can be archived each term. The permanent record is the foundation for continuous improvement.
· Customisation: The ‘School Curriculum Centre’ can be customised over the years to suit the students within the local school / community context.
· Sharing: Teachers can share documents in seconds, by ‘drag and drop’ to the shared folder.
· Group sharing: groups can be created for collaboration between a common group e.g. Year 3 teachers.
· District or State-wide Curriculum Access: The State may be regarded as a very large ‘School’ and thus the public folder will be accessible to all teachers.
· Saving: All personal documents are saved on the web-server. Schools may also choose to save the documents on their personal computers and on a school shared drive.
· Back-up: ‘Backing-up’ is automated. Teachers merely click the ‘back-up button’ and save on the server. The folder can then be saved on the school server.
