Rationale · Assessment is the means of clarifying expectations, gauging progress, evaluating outcomes. · Connecting teaching learning and assessment into a coherent cycle is a key goal of educators. Course description · The goal is to enable you to link learning and assessment quickly and efficiently. · Formative assessment exercises are linked to learning and used to provide feedback for student improvement. · Summative assessment tasks provide data to determine progress, make judgements and provide informed decisions on student achievement the effectiveness of the learning program. · Demonstrate accountability for system requirements. Modules The course comprises 5 modules, each of approximately 1-4 hours: M1. Conceptual framework for assessment: why, what, when, how, so what, how well. M2. Examine the system requirements. Determine what is to be assessed. Choose from a range of assessment types. M3. Examine and used tools for assessment: indicators, tasks, rubrics, checklists. M4. Develop assessment tasks for your chosen areas of the learning program. Applying rubrics, standards. M5. Processes for recording assessments. Preparing for reporting.
